RSGIS -- Check Open Ports Page

Use this page to check what ports are open on your machine. When you enter your IP address below and hit submit, a list of open TCP/IP ports on your machine will be displayed.

Your computer is listening for requests on each of these ports. You should secure your machine by turning off every service you are not using. Each open port on your machine is a potential entry point for breaking into your computer and the fewer open ports you have, the less vulnerable you are. It is very important that you do this! These services are turned on/off by editing the file /etc/inetd.conf (or /etc/xinetd.conf on RedHat 7.2). Check the man page for inetd or xinetd on your system for more info. If you have questions, feel free to ask me (Paul) for help.

Please Note: This web page port scans the machine at the IP address you enter. At this time port scanning appears to be legal, but it is definitely not a good way to make friends with your system administrator or local security person. Use this tool responsibly! You should only scan your own machines. All use of this web page is logged and abusers will be tracked down and dealt with.

Enter IP address of the machine you wish to check
