Dyers Woad (Isatis
tinctoria) was first introduced to the United States and cultivated
as a source of blue dye. Since its introduction, it has spread
to portions of Utah and inhabits dry, disturbed environments.
This project has focused on determining the
spread of the systemic rust Puccinia thlaspeos, which actually
inhibits the growth of I. tinctoria. Data collected from
1997 to 1999 was modeled in a GIS using the Inverse Distance Weighting
algorithm. The
final report is now available as a pdf downloadable file.
