University Responsibilities Under the Site License
The university site license agreement places certain responsibilities on the university. The agreement requires that the university name a single administrative contact (Bonnie B. Banner) between the university and ESRI.  Up to three technical specialists (from the university) must be designated who support all on-campus software use. The university is encouraged to promote GIS to other university departments through seminars, software demonstrations, and training.

The university site license agreement is available only to colleges, community colleges, universities, or other eligible educational institutions.  It is intended only for academic research or instructional use.  Under the Site License Agreement, ESRI software may only be loaded on documented university machines and used only by Utah State University faculty, staff, and students.  ESRI software may not be used for commercial activities.  All copyrights apply.  Violation of these conditions may result in prosecution or loss of the ESRI University Site License.

Site License
All licensing will be through the site license. The annual maintenance fee is $25,000 per year, regardless of the number of ESRI product licenses at Utah State University.  The advantage of the site license is that less is paid for licenses than in the past, because the cost is shared.

Accessing Software and Documentation
Copies of the software are available for check-out and download to university machines through the ESRI University Site License Office sponsored by the RS/GIS Laboratories.  In the near future software will be available over the net, as well.  For more information contact  Bonnie B. Banner (see contact information below).  Online documentation is available with each software package.  For your convenience, hard copy documentation for ARC/INFO and PC ARC/INFO are available for check-out at the Quinney Library located in the Natural Resources building.

Ordering Documentation and Self-study Tutorials
Many GIS users prefer their own hard copy editions of ESRI software documentation.  Hard copy documentation  is available through the site license at a 40% discount.  Self-study tutorials are also available, though they are not included in the 40% discount.  For more information, contact Bonnie B. Banner (see contact information below).
