ESRI Site License Cost for Utah State University

Annual cost at this time for the Utah State University portion of the ESRI Higher Education Utah Statewide Site License  is $15,500, plus materials, administrative costs, part-time salary for a site license administrator and System Administrators.  The $15,500 annual fee includes:

  • Unlimited software licenses!
  • 0ne copy of software and media (see Products for a detailed list).
  • Technical support through three campus representatives.
  • New releases and upgrades!
  • Three complimentary registrations for the annual ESRI User's Conference.
  • Free Access to First Party Training Modules on The ESRI Virtual Campus!

  • The total cost to run the site license is approximately $49,500 per year.  The Office of the Vice President for Research contributes a generous $12,000 per year toward the cost to the site license.  Campus GIS users can participate in the site license for just $150 per computer per year!  This covers the remaining yearly University cost and affords participating campus GIS users unlimited licenses of ESRI software products included in the site license.

    You pay . . .

only $165 per computer per year, plus the one time charge of  $35 for a hardware sentinel key (Needed for ArcGIS Desktop and ArcInfo Workstation NT only)  You can also include ArcView and the extensions, Spatial Analyst, 3-D Analyst, Network Analyst and Image Analyst for the same low price.  Want to serve your GIS maps over the Internet?  Use ESRI's MapObjects or Internet Map Server at no additional charge!  In other words,  the yearly $150 flat fee entitles you to all the software products listed, new releases, upgrades, and technical support!
    Remember . . .
you only need the hardware sentinel key if you are running ArcGIS Desktop and ArcInfo Workstation NT and you only need to buy it once!  There is no sentinel key required for ArcView and other ESRI software.
    One other thing . . .
ArcInfo keycodes time out each June 30 with a drop dead timeout of July30.  The University's $15,500 yearly site license fee is due on or before July 1.  This allows ESRI to be paid and then they will reset the web interface to the next year timeout date, which makes it possible to write licenses for the new year and put them in place before the old ones timeout.

    Prorated Cost . . .

keeps the accounting simple and fair, the yearly $165 is prorated quarterly.
See the table below for the fee schedule and the actual amount for which you will need a University account index number or p-card -the p-card works best:
