There has been legislation proposed in Cache county extending
protection to wetlands that are two acres or larger in size, that are
within existing city limits. You, the GIS expert, are asked to
provide information to assist in arguing the merits and implications
of this legislation. Since the person requesting your assistance is
preparing herself to argue this in open debate, she needs to be
prepared for different sides of the argument.
You have made a crude estimate of the growth of the cities in Cache
county based on population density, which has been accepted as a
reasonable projection of the growth of the city boundaries by most
sides in the debate. Using these existing buffers, describe the
logic, and the analytic steps required, to support the following
arguments:(use pictures as necessary)
- Nearly 600 acres of wetland will be lost to development if this legislation passes
- Less than 200 acres in the entire county would be affected by this legislation
- Only one XFpercent of the county's wetlands will be affected by this legislation.
- Environmentalists are doo-doo heads
- Developers are evil crybabies
