Chris McGinty

Assistant director

Christopher (Chris) McGinty serves as the Assistant Director of the Remote Sensing/GIS Laboratory at Utah State University in Logan, Utah as well as the National Program Manager for AmericaView, Inc., a non-profit that focuses on research, outreach, and education using remotely sensed data. He has more than 15 years of experience of research and teaching geospatial topics including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and remote sensing, and use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). His research interests include mapping and studying landscape disturbance; modeling the spread of invasive vegetation species; use of UAS for natural resource data collection; landscape and land cover monitoring; object-based image analysis and feature extraction, and remote sensing and classification of watersheds. In limited quantities of spare time, Chris spends time fly-fishing, beekeeping, traveling, and general adventuring.
